If a constable knocks on your door, do not panic. It may not be anything to worry about. Just listen to what we have to say. We may just need some information or are looking to work out something in your favor. Don't assume the worst, just hear us out. Remember to never answer with a weapon for everyone's safety. We will always be willing to work with you if you cooperate with us.
Read the document immediately as it may have time sensitive information. There is usually a number on the documents to call for questions or to make arrangements. Follow the instructions on the paperwork and contact the court or the constable for questions and concerns.
Return the call if you receive a message so that the constable can explain to you what it is they need. Don't assume the worst. It just may be that we need information about something. It may not be anything to do with you. If it is for you, we may be able to work out an agreement and provide options to help. We have a job to do but are also here to help if we can. Give us a chance to work with you.
Make arrangements to take care of it at the magistrate's office as soon as possible and contact the constable's office to discuss options beforehand. If we do come out to your home, we may be able to work out a plan to meet at the magistrate's office. If we do need to arrest you on the judge's orders then cooperate, and we can take you to see the judge where you can explain things to him and ask for any assistance you may need to take care of it. It may be a quick process and you may be able to get back to your home as soon as it's taken care of. Remember, most magistrates will work with you if you cooperate and just explain your situation.
